  1. Annual Security Report (ASR)

    Federal regulations require that an Annual Security Report be compiled and published on or before October 1 each year.  A link to the report is available on the WCCPD webpage.

    The report is available in the “Additional Information” section.  A hard copy of the report may also be picked up at the reception desk in Student Services. 

  2. Consumer Information Notice

    Federal regulations require colleges and universities to annually provide current students, prospective students, and employees with consumer information. To make the information readily available, Wilkes Community College maintains a Consumer Information webpage.  Anyone interested in viewing this information can visit www.wilkescc.edu/consumer-information/ to find links to web pages, reports, and additional details regarding Wilkes Community College. A paper copy of the information is available upon request from Wendy Nichols in the Student Services Office.

The event, held on the Wilkes Community College campus, brought together volunteers for a morning of fellowship, gratitude, and recognition.

“We asked our volunteers, what’s all the buzz about—and it was them, of course” said Tabitha Hudler Director of the Walker Center “Giving selflessly is the true definition of a volunteer and they live up to that in all aspects. This breakfast is a special opportunity to thank them for their unwavering support.”

The Walker Center depends on its volunteers to welcome guests, assist with performances, and contribute to the overall success of its programming. Their efforts not only strengthen the mission of the Walker Center but also help expand cultural and educational opportunities for the entire community.

Volunteers were celebrated for their dedication and commitment to serving both the college and the community.

A one-of-a-kind tribute to the heart and soul of American culture.

Presented “within the studio” of a retro radio broadcast from the fictional 1776 AM L-B-R-T “Liberty” Radio Theatre, the show transported guests back to the golden era of Americana. Featuring internationally touring Americana band Blue Water Highway, the Liberty Radio Orchestra & Gospel Singers, and some of the best entertainers from the Lone Star State, the performance blended music, comedy, and storytelling into an unforgettable evening.

Audiences were treated to a nostalgic journey celebrating classic American traditions from Route 66 road trips and backyard BBQs to summer nights under the stars and fireworks on the Fourth of July.

“The Grand Ol’ Americana Show was the perfect mix of fun, music, and memory-making,” said Tabitha Hudler Director of the Walker Center. “It captured the joy and pride of our shared American heritage and gave our community a night to remember.”

The Grand Ol’ Americana Show added to the Walker Center’s tradition of bringing world-class entertainment to the region, showcasing performances that inspire, entertain, and bring the community together.

Wilkes Community College to Host Entrepreneur Pitch Night with $3,000 in Grants https://www.wilkescc.edu/news/wilkes-community-college-to-host-entrepreneur-pitch-night-with-3000-in-grants/ Fri, 05 Sep 2025 15:28:48 +0000 https://www.wilkescc.edu/?p=40968 WILKESBORO, N.C. – August 28, 2025 – Wilkes Community College (WCC) will host the Wilkes Entrepreneur Pitch Night on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The event, held at the WCC-Window World Hall, is open to new and existing business owners across Wilkes County.

The pitch night will offer participants the chance to win one of three $1,000 entrepreneurship stipends to help launch or expand their businesses. Funding for the grants is provided by Weave: The Social Fabric Project.

The Wilkes Entrepreneur Pitch Night is more than just a competition; it’s an initiative that strengthens the community. By providing essential funding through grants, the event directly addresses community-expressed needs, such as access to capital for local entrepreneurs. This effort is supported by Weave: The Social Fabric Project, an organization dedicated to building community relationships and trust. Through this collaboration, Weave is not only investing in local businesses but also fostering a greater sense of belonging and support among our residents.

To be eligible for the competition, participants must:

  • Be a resident of Wilkes County.
  • Plan to open or expand a business in the area.
  • Complete two Small Business Center seminars by November 24, 2025.
  • Complete two hours of one-on-one counseling with the Small Business Center.
  • Create a pitch deck for their business idea.

“We are thrilled to provide this opportunity for our local entrepreneurs and support their growth with essential funding,” said Laurie Brintle-Jarvis, Director of the Wilkes Community College Small Business Center.

His four-year term will run from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2029.

Luffman brings a wealth of expertise in business law, franchise development, and corporate governance to his role on the board. A licensed attorney and Certified Franchise Executive (CFE), he has eight years of experience leading franchise growth, territory expansion, and compliance initiatives for Window World, Inc., America’s largest exterior remodeler with more than 230 franchise locations.

Currently working as Director of Franchising at Window World, Inc. Luffman oversees national franchise development, owner onboarding, and system-wide compliance. He works closely with legal, marketing, and operations teams to ensure brand consistency and contractual compliance, while also advising on long-term strategic growth.

Luffman holds a Juris Doctor, from Elon University School of Law, where he was a Business Fellow and served as Online Editor of the Elon Law Business Journal. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Appalachian State University, where he was a member of the Heltzer Honors Program and an Appalachian Ambassador.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Luffman is an active community leader. He currently serves as Chair of the Wilkes Medical Center Foundation Board, as a board member of the Wilkes Chamber of Commerce, and as a long-standing member of the North Wilkesboro Rotary Club.

“Zach Luffman brings an exceptional blend of legal expertise, business development experience, and community leadership to our Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Mike Rodgers, President of Wilkes Community College. “We look forward to his contributions as we continue to strengthen opportunities for students and support economic growth in our region.”

A one-of-a-kind tribute to the spirit of Americana, this performance celebrates the culture, comedy, and music that define nostalgic American summers. Will Hearn’s Grand Ol’ Americana Show is performed “within the studio” of a retro radio show, broadcasting live from the 1776 AM L-B-R-T “Liberty” Radio Theatre. The show features internationally touring Americana favorites Blue Water Highway, the Liberty Radio Orchestra & Gospel Singers, and top entertainers from the Lone Star State.

The ceremony began with Christopher Velasquez, a 2025 graduate, delivering the student-led invocation. Dr. Mike Rodgers president of Wilkes Community College welcomed guests to the ceremony. Gabriela Limon, a 2025 graduate, introduced Dr. Mark Mautner as the guest speaker. Jennifer Hastings, lead instructor of Dental Assisting, provided special recognition.

The Patient Care Award was given to Christopher Velasquez and Outstanding Chairside Assistant was given to Adriana Cortez Alonso. The Scholastic Achievement Award was given to Natalie Adams and Isabella Bonilla.

Mrs. Kristen Macemore, vice president of instruction, announced each graduate as faculty members Jennifer Hastings, Melissa Holloway and Lindsey Wingler presented the pins. Once all graduates received their pins, they said The Dental Assistants Pledge. Natalie Johnson, a 2025 graduate, gave class acknowledgments. Tamara Beck, dean of Health Sciences, offered closing remarks. The ceremony closed with a student-led benediction by Natalie Johnson, a 2025 graduate.

The dental assisting faculty comprises Jong Byun, DDS; Christopher Dirig, DDS; Jennifer Hastings, CDA; Melissa Holloway, CDA; Mark Mautner, DDS; Keshia Richardson, RDH; Nicole Wagoner, RDH; and Lindsey Wingler, CDA.

The members of the WCC 2020 Dental Assisting Class are proud to name Melissa Holloway, CDA, as recipient of the Outstanding Dental Professional Award for her support and dedication to the WCC Dental Assisting program. Melissa has been instrumental in the success of the WCC Dental Assisting program and serves as the clinical coordinator/faculty for the dental assisting program.
